The solution seems to be found when Deborah’s stepdaughter Amy (Michele) comes to leave with Deborah’s husband and her. Amy is a shy, conservative, straight A student, who just wants to make a go at reestablishing a relationship with her father and his new wife by spending her school year living with him. Rose and Deborah think Amy will be a good influence on Clara, so they begin to push the two together, even requesting that Clara help Amy get settled in at their high school. The girls seem to hit it off, and the plan is going well. That is, until Clara decides to take Amy under her wing and transform her into a popular social butterfly, like herself. Always more concerned with books and grades than parties and dating, Amy leaps at the chance to see how the other half of the high school population.
